JOHN EVANS BAND- AUSTIN TX
This is not an event to be missed. We are very fortunate to have this fine Texan Gentleman joining us for our first Matinee Event here at the Creekside Stage. Things get fired up Austin Texas style at 2pm sharp.
Standing at six-foot-five, adorned in polyester, with a smile on his face and sparkle in his eyes, Texas-born musician John Evans is hard to miss when he takes the stage. Big hair, horn-rimmed glasses, bell-bottoms and vintage cowboy boots may be part of his iconic look, but it’s his contagious energy and memorable sound that captures the audience. As a performer, if Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly and Elvis Costello were to have a love child, John Evans might just be it. But it is also his songwriting that has built his legacy over the past 20 years as a troubadour in the great state of Texas. Music runs deep in this man’s blood, and with just a tiny bit of whiskey to make it flow even better, Evans is embarking on a new album and a new chapter that will go down easy, with or without a shot.

If you haven't heard Romi Mayes' music yet, it's time you do.
Hailing from the prairies of Canada, Mayes is one of the hardest working independent musicians touring the globe today.
Devil On Both Shoulders', her 6th full-length release, is another testament to why Romi Mayes’ past albums have garnered three Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, two Western Canadian Music Awards for Album of The Year, a Juno nomination for Album of the Year, and various Canadian Music Award nominations.
Mayes is known for her powerful lyrical ability that gives life to the words she sings. Her insightful sweet and edgy vocals paint pictures of heart on her sleeve sincerity and a road well travelled. The talented players that surround her are another confirmation of how her honest abilities draw the best of the best toward her authentic brand of roots music.
She has relentlessly toured Canada, US, Europe, UK, and has shared the stage with the likes of Levon Helm, Derek Trucks, Ricky Skaggs, Jim Cuddy, Gordie Johnson, Guy Clark, Sue Foley, Fred Eaglesmith, Corb Lund, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, and many more.
KYLE PULLAN EP RELEASE PARTY
Thursday, September 8th 8pm
Come support some amazing local talent!
We are very lucky to have Kyle with us celebrating the release of hi new EP.
Don't miss this one!
Kyle started playing piano at a young age, one of his first inspirations was the work of Yanni. By his early teens, Kyle had taken to the electric guitar and discovered Heavy Metal. Spending his teenage years as a lead guitarist and drummer in a number of bands, he was known for his ability to quickly learn complicated riffs and solos. When he wasn’t playing live shows, he tirelessly worked to perfect his timing and style for the most difficult of songs. At nearly 20, he bought a recorder and began to mix, loop and write long, layered and multi-instrumental music.
Fast forward to 2013..
.. when he moved from Ontario to Canmore, Kyle discovered a new style of playing acoustic guitar. His Heavy Metal background didn’t suit the ambience of a mountain town, so he chose to mellow things out with live acoustic and mostly unplugged sets. By using the guitar as a percussion instrument and mixing in complicated finger-picking, Kyle began to write new songs that would better suit the energy of the Rockies.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 25th
"If you need me, I’ll be in Wisconsin," sings Sean Burns, but he's just as likely to be found in Calgary or Ottawa, Tofino or Regina.Touring relentlessly from one end of Canada to the other and across the United States, Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter Sean Burns taps into the bittersweet spirit of the road and then spins it his way with a blend of electric and acoustic guitars and a soulful harmonica.
Sean's music will resonate with fans of Canadiana, Americana, Folk, Country and Blues alike. The songs, which hint at such influences as Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash, capture the grittiness of the road in the stark, down-to-earth style of an authentic storyteller.

Dinner and a show
Pretty Archie is a Country/Folk/Bluegrass band from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The band chose the name Pretty Archie after a local (Cape Breton) character known for playing with 2 strings outside shopping malls in any weather and not always (or ever) in key. The guys thought the name Pretty Archie embodied the love of playing and performing music along with representing their hometown. Pretty Archie’s honest, fun loving and at times heartbreaking music finds common ground in the blurred genres of Country, Folk, Bluegrass and Blues. Their unique sound has lead to the band developing a following that grows after each show they play.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6TH
Well folks, we are super excited about this one. At one time a Bow Valley regular back in the days of Banff's Barbary Coast. Now the Creekside Stage is bringing him back to the valley and we could not be more excited!
Read below some quotes about his latest record release "Travelin' with the Blues"
Canada's premier 'old school' harp wizard has never sounded better. Harpdog swings on 'Travelin' With The Blues' supported by mature, understated players surrounded by a warm production sound. Harpdog's effortless vocal delivery is a rare and natural gift.
- Holger Petersen - CKUA, CBC and SiriusXM Broadcaster and Stony Plain Records President.
Charlie Musselwhite says "Harpdog's got a smokin' band playing and he's singing the real deal, old school blues just like you want to hear it. The tune I did with Harpdog, Moose On The Loose, was a whole lotta fun. It's got a good feel and good energy and I remember the fun we had recording it. I ain't lyin'!"
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23RD
Valdy, born Valdemar Horsdal in Ottawa, Canada has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for over 34 years. A man with a thousand friends, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to Texas to New Zealand, he's a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.
Remembered for Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, his bitter-sweet memory of finding himself, a relaxed and amiable story-teller, facing a rambunctious audience at the Aldergrove Rock Festival circa 1968, Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards (Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year), seven Juno nominations, and four Gold albums to his credit.
Valdy's recent CDs include "Contenders 3", the third collaboration with friend and fellow singer/songwriter, Gary Fjellgaard, with whom he has an absolute blast touring, a solo release, "Viva Valdy: Live at Last", a two-CD package, with a total of 25 tunes and lyric booklet, and a recent release "Read Between the Lines".
One of Canada's most influential songwriters, Valdy's composition A Good Song was recorded under the title Just a Man by the venerable Quincy Jones (he sang lead on the recording!). Play Me a Rock and Roll Song has been recorded by a few artists, including John Kay of Steppenwolf.
Along the way, Valdy has taken his music to a dozen different countries, from Denmark to Australia and recently New Zealand. He has been an often-invited performer at the Kerrville Festival in Texas. His recent television appearances include Canada AM and Open Mike with Mike Bullard. Valdy has also been a panelist on Front Page Challenge, and played a lead role in an episode of The Beachcombers original series.
Today, he is based on Salt Spring Island, where he lives with his wife Kathleen, three dogs. All three children are grown, flown and doing famously living in or near Vancouver, or Colorado.

"A hypnotic, literate collection of dark tall tales.” -Acoustic Guitar
“Corin Raymond is a storyteller who by the end of the night you’ll have known your whole life.” – The Globe and Mail
Toronto songwriter Corin Raymond is a troubadour whose robust veracity appeals to older folks and children alike. Raymond’s songs are covered by Dustin Bentall, The Good Lovelies, The Strumbellas, The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, and a far flung community of roots musicians and enthusiasts. Raymond's latest album, Hobo Jungle Fever Dreams (released March 3rd, 2016) is "a hypnotic, literate collection of dark tall tales.... Romantic, immediate, and narcotic." (Acoustic Guitar). Aside from the hilarious triumph of funding his previous project, double-album Paper Nickels, with Canadian Tire money, Raymond enjoys a second career performing his non-musical, one-man shows Bookworm (2011) and The Great Canadian Tire Money Caper (2014), which he has toured extensively to over a dozen Fringe and literary festivals, and to theatres in three countries. "Raymond has impeccable timing, and his performance is at once intimate, openhearted, and evangelical." (The Georgia Straight on Bookworm) "Corin Raymond is a storyteller who by the end of the night you'll have known your whole life." (The Globe and Mail).

RANT MAGGIE RANT
Since their debut in 2008, RANT MAGGIE RANT has consistently won over audiences at festivals, folk clubs, town halls, churches, concert halls and symphonic stages. The original goal was to take traditional Celtic music as the foundation, then liberally and unapologetically colour outside the prescribed lines. In a nut-shell, have fun!
Traditionalists love their approach, as they respect the time honoured styles. Drawing on the music from the seven Celtic nations, the obvious Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, and the lesser known Isle of Mann, Galicia (Spain) and Brittany (France), as well as from Quebec and Canada's East Coast, new Celtic music listeners are drawn to RANT MAGGIE RANT's fusion of World influences. The ensemble moves effortlessly from Irish jigs to Galician munieras, from Scottish marches to Breton an dros, driving them with Latin and Mediterranean rhythms, African hand drumming and percussion, blues/rock guitar backdrops, revved up tempos, unexpected time changes, and a unique rhythmic attack. Their repertoire combines contemporary compositions with traditional tunes, often blending them together to deliver an intoxicating performance.
In the past few years, RANT MAGGIE RANT successfully toured Newfoundland, Chicago, Vancouver Island, Montreal, Ottawa (NAC) and many places in between and has shared the stage with Ashley MacIsaac, Loreena McKennitt, Trent Severn and The Bills, among others. Their last record, simply titled 'Rant Maggie Rant', is a St. Patrick’s Day romp, was recorded live at Hugh's Room, a prominent and prestigious Folk/Roots venue in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was released in Sept. 2013.

Doors at 6pm, show at 7pm
Be here for this one folks! Tickets are going to go fast! Here is a bit about the band...Super excited to have these guys here at the Creekside stage!!
Though they call western Massachusetts home, Parsonsfield draws their name from the rural Maine town that's home to the Great North Sound Society, the farmhouse-turned-recording-studio of Josh Ritter keyboardist/producer Sam Kassirer. It was there that they cut their outstanding debut, 'Poor Old Shine,' which established them as a roots force to be reckoned with. The New York Times hailed the band as "boisterously youthful yet deftly sentimental," while Folk Alley dubbed their songs "the most jubilant and danceable indie roots music this side of the Carolinas." Their rowdy live performances only upped the ante, with The Bluegrass Situation falling for their "fun and frenzy" and No Depression raving that they'll "give you rich five-part harmonies one minute, sound like bluegrass on steroids the next, and then rock you over the head with unbearably cool and raucous Celtic rhythms."
